An Excellent Solution for Reinforcing Marginal Soil Sites

Dynamic Replacement is a variation of the Dynamic Compaction method and is used when the existing soils are so poor that they will not compact properly through Dynamic Compaction alone.

Aggregate (typically a coarse stone material) is put on the surface area to be densified by a front loader. Then, a crane drops a 10 to 20-ton weight from a height of approximately 10 to 25 m, compressing and "punching" the aggregate into the treatment area. This is done in alternate passes of ramming and filling until, ultimately, large pillars of stone are created underground. 

How it Works

Dynamic Replacement is an efficient and environmentally sustainable approach that combines the benefits of Dynamic compaction and Stone Columns by adding material to the area to be densified, creating large granular columns, typically of crushed stone aggregate. By utilizing dynamic compaction, the aggregate is compressed repeatedly, creating a stone column with extremely high stiffness, internal shear resistance, and overall improvement in the densification of surrounding soils.
