Assist the project manager in monitoring soil improvement work, analyzing technical and operational data, making or modifying drawings, entering and analyzing geotechnical boreholes to establish a soil profile and calculating load-bearing capacities and settlements.

The assistant to the project manager ensures quality control on the work carried out. It aims at all times to optimize projects (schedule, quality, etc.).

  • Located in Montréal, Toronto, Calgary and Vancouver. 

Level of knowledge required

  • Intermediate: has broad job knowledge; knows and applies all the concepts, practices of the field of specialty

  • Know geotechnical tests and calculations, mechanical properties of soils and their classification

  • Project Management

  • Know the laws, standards and regulations in occupational health and safety

  • Knowledge of the National Building Code

Skills

  • Ability to communicate verbally and in writing, in French and English

  • Good organizational skills

  • Ability to resolve conflict situations with a positive attitude

Abilities

  • Relevant experience in geotechnical engineering

  • Relevant experience on construction sites

  • Relevant experience in civil engineering or building projects

  • Mastery of Office Suite software

  • Autocad and Civil 3d

Major functions

  • Assist the project manager in monitoring soil improvement work

  • Perform analysis of technical and operational data, make or modify drawings, enter and analyze boreholes

  • Geotechnical techniques to establish a soil profile and calculate load-bearing capacities and settlements

  • The assistant to the project manager ensures quality control on the work carried out. It aims at all times to optimize projects (schedule, quality, etc.)

  • Assist the operations manager in the implementation and deployment of IT tools for site management and budget monitoring

  • Work under the supervision of the Operations Manager and in collaboration with the project team. The intern will perform his/her tasks independently of the project manager. Data monitoring and validation thereafter.

Other requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in geotechnics, civil engineering or geology or equivalent engineering degree

  • Member of the Ordre des ingénieurs du Québec

  • Minimum of 3 years of experience
